As the topic of the Conference is "India & The Indian Ocean: Renewing the Maritime Trade & Civilization Linkages" so is the topic for Exhibition.
Indian Ocean, the only Ocean named after a country signifies the influence of India across the water and her dominant local power. This is because of her size and location across major sea routes. Geographically, she is so situated as to be the meeting point of Western and Northern and Eastern and South East Asia. This Ocean used and traveled by people for over 5000 years is by far the oldest one in the history.
This vast ocean connecting and separating nations played an important role in shaping many countries cultures and ideologies through the movement of goods, people, ideas and religion vide trade, naval power, travel and scientific exploration across the sea. We are exhibiting a good number of panels confirming this. Few examples of the Exhibits that provide the glimpses of:
- Terracota art in Bengal
- Boats of India
- The then Loan Agreement
- Ramayana Tradition
- Buddhism in South East Asian Countries
- Bali - Land of Enchantment
